When you're at WAAPA, especially studing costume design, you become removed from the rest of the world, there is nothing outside of it beyond catching up on sleep. But I've had two months break, plenty of time to remember what life is like beyond WAAPA, in that time I have:
Caught up on Doctor Who, Generator Rex, Misfits and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I've learned how to knit
I've had commissions
I've finished a lot of my own costumes
I've actually been able to read a book all the way through
I got a bonsai tree that didn't die
I got a new pet, he's a weero/cockatiel named Pikachu, I found him when I was out walking the dogs, yay free shit: [link]
I bought more action figure than I should have
Learned more about mould-making, resin and sculpting
Taught someone else about costume making
Played video games which I hardly ever get to do, there was War for Cybertron, Arkham City, Uncharted 3 and both Mass Effects (which means I played on an Xbox 360 for the first time, it's alright but I've grown up with Playstations).

And in a few weeks I get back into working flat out, not only studying, but I have two theatre jobs this year. Hopefully I can finish my Quorra and Loki costumes somewhere in there.

Next year I hope to have a table at Wai-Con, so any Perthians can look for me there as Costume Couture, this is a list of what I'll be selling and if I have any left over I can sell them on here. Any suggestions for other things I could make are welcome:

Doctor Who- Bow ties and Fezs

My Little Pony-Blank customisable ponies, DJ Pon3 and Doctor Whooves custom toys.
Ears, tails, wings and horns for cosplay.

Masks, like my fabric Batman mask and domino masks for cosplays like Harley Quinn or the Spirit. Maybe Venom too.

Plushies- Astroboy, Ein from Cowboy Bebop, Ood, Cybermen, Transformers (the generic body types will be in white so you can paint them yourself, like Seekers)

Custom figures like the cast of Cowboy Bebop and a Catwoman doll

Original sneaker designs

Jackets inspired by X-men and Kick-Ass

Star Trek pins

And other things like Lego brick tissue box covers, superhero inspired Fukus, Sailor Moon tiaras, shoe wings, scarves, bags and skirts made out of kids bed sheets, hoodie scarves, capelets and I think that's all from the top of my head.
  • Listening to: Cowboy Bebop theme song
  • Reading: The Prose Edda
  • Watching: The Soup
  • Playing: Batman:Arkham City

This sounds like one hell of a schedule, but I'm happy to see you've somehow managed to keep everything relatively organized.

I have to ask, how have you enjoyed Arkham City and both Mass Effect games?

I seem to be able to fit a lot in, probably because I can be hyper-focused and not stopping until I have finished a project. I also work pretty quickly.

Arkham City was fantastic, I suprisingly loved Mr.Freeze the most, his design, his voice, the unique boss fight and his uneasy team-up with Batman.

Mass Effect is not only one of my favourite games but one of my favourite sci-fi's in general. It creates a rich, elaborate and cerebral world, the designs for the environments and costumes are beautiful and unique. It's as if this sprung from my own imagination.
In terms of sci-fi, I think this is our Star Wars.

Personally, I get a more Star Trek: The Next Generations meets Cthulhu Mythos with a dash of Starship Troopers and Firefly out of it. I'm glad you've enjoyed both! I definitely share your sentiment. Now this only brings to mind the following:

1) Renegade or Paragon? Or, rather, Paragade or Renegon (Fandom nicknames for playing the middle ground on the karma meter)

2) Romance anyone in particular or went utterly single?

3) Favourite character and/or species?

Oh, and, hell yes Freeze was awesome in Arkham City. They definitely improved the boss battles since the last game, the Freeze battle required you think strategically against him. And anything that man says, with that wonderful voice (lifted entirely from the animated series of the 90s), sounds like pure concentrated awesome.

Even better. Want to know who the voice actor was? Maurice Lamarche. That's right. The voice for The Brain. You just kicked the crap out of the Brain wearing Mr. Freeze's suit.

It's a dash of everything that is good in the genre I think, definitely a TNG vibe though.

1- It's funny how I have a hard time playing something other than myself in games. Like in TF2 I'm always the Spy because stealth and style are so 'me'. So I couldn't envision playing Heavy for example.
And in Mass Effect, I want to be the badass, but the my own 'Fluttershy' nature of being helpful and kind keeps coming through. So I was a bit bipolar/middle ground, I can be ruthless when neccessary.

2- In the first game I got attached to Ashley Williams, maybe it's just the name, but I like her.
In the second game and the one who drew me into the franchise was Thane, he reminds me of Abe Sapien and I seem to have a thing for green.

3- Thane and Tali

Maurice LaMarche is in everything, he's one of those standard voice actors you expect to see in any given cartoon.
