What the hell is this? I found it on the floor at Supanova and I thought it was so cute I took her home and named her Liu-C. It says Disney on her leg, looks kind of Japanese though. So my guess is Kingdom Hearts? I've only played the first one years ago, don't remember anything that looks like this. Maybe it's something from the new Tron movie. Can anyone help?
Haha yeah pretty sure a lot of the stuff went missing from the trading figure section. (I was working at the Empire booth). Loved your Hit Girl and Dr. Girlfriend cosplays by the way.
Oh yeah Perth needs more conventions, especially ones that aren't expensive or don't revolve around anime or technology. It seems like we have to wait forever for the next convention.
Steampunk themed convention would be awesome. Imagine all of the different costumes. But yeah, amount of time, money and effort required would be enormous.
About the anime and technology, I agree. Way too much focus at these conventions on anime. I don't like alot of it and I especially don't like most of the fans. And tech is just a neccesity of modern life...Unless there was a jet-pack and flying car expo, then I'm there.
I was glad that this year's Supanova wasn't so anime related although maybe I just didn't notice cos I was pretty much in one spot the whole time. Last year seemed to just have so many anime costumes and stalls and guests and the rest of the pop culture aspect seemed to be missing. This year even the little kids were in comic costumes and the media guests were really good considering how late some of them came onboard.
I find that the anime fans are the ones that make the convention experience cringe worthy since they seem to be the ones screaming and running around being silly. They're also the ones that make my job cringe worthy.
I reckon if you started some sort of gathering of people who like steam punk, you could eventually gather enough support to do some sort of convention.
I think I'll start a Steampunk group on here and Facebook. See how much attention we can get. I'll send you a link.
Anime fans seem to like acting like the characters in their favourite shows. You know, doing wild takes, acting over the top, speaking Japanese. Half of them don't know that much about their own western culture. I used to have a friend who was a hardcore weebo. She had never heard of Forrest Gump...Or Ned Kelly!
I'm all for experiencing other cultures, but not a fixation on one that you aren't even a part of. That's just weird.
But the anime to comic ratio this year was alot better.
This thing is so small it more than likely fell off their table.
I wish we had more conventions around here. If it didn't involve so much organization I'd hold a Steampunk convention myself.

Steampunk would get alot of creativity flowing.
